Updates from Last week:
We started the show off with a little bit of a recap of what’s been going on since last week, where we’re at today and the content for today’s show.
Let me just tell you that the first week that we launched this show kicked my ass.
We went from idea to launch in 3 weeks (idea on July 18th, 2016 to show launch on Aug. 8th). So we recorded the first 6 episodes before launch date (recording two back to back a couple nights), then getting them edited as well as everything else (site up, email list, marketing, etc.). So when it came time to write the show notes (podcast post) for each episode, I was doing it the night before the episode was to go live.
Which sucked. #justsayin
The only saving grace was that I enjoyed listening to them too (does that make me a bit of a narcissist? haha). Plus our intro. makes me laugh every single time I hear it.
Today’s Topic: Email Marketing[clickToTweet tweet=”‘An email list is an asset. You don’t own anything on your Facebook page.’ @paperspodcast” quote=”An email list is an asset. You don’t own anything on your Facebook page.” theme=”style6″]
We decided to talk about email marketing today because it’s something we both wish we had started sooner… but as they say, it happens when it happens.
Hopefully you’ll learn from our journey and start doing this now. Don’t wait until you wish you had started 5 years ago.
We both shared our insight into what we feel email marketing is and why it’s important (more important than social media):
Kim: Your email list is your asset
Jon: Your email subscribers are more interested than your social followers
Another Ben Settle story…
I’ll make this quick, but I shared the story that Ben Settle shared in a recent email of his about a product launch that he was following. He was watching the launch and videos and knew right away that he wanted to buy. He emailed the product creator and asked to buy it now… the response? Craziest thing ever…
They told him no.
That he had to finish watching all the videos.
You have got to be kidding me.
You have a customer, cash-in-hand and you’re going to make him wait to buy?
I get having them wait to get access, but let them buy NOW.
Before we talk about daily emails, we want to be clear that we are not experts at this and don’t teach it. We’re sharing our own results and what is working for us. We both recommend subscribing to Ben Settle if you want to learn this strategy.
The daily email strategy does require learning how to write these types of emails (there is a fine art to learning to write copy and this type of email marketing) but it’s SO worth it. The beautiful thing about this strategy is that it’s simple (note I didn’t say easy). You just have to put the time into it daily so you can get better at it. You have to stick with it for a while before you see results.
Include a link to something in every email. Not sure what to link to? Here are a few suggestions:
- affiliate product
- content (yours or someone else’s)
- service page – do you sell coaching/consulting?
- your products
We shared a recent email of Ben’s in this episode and validated each point he made. The subject line? “7 Bullsheeyat Excuses for Not Emailing Everyday”
What’s our point?
Start emailing and simply pay attention to what is /isn’t working. It might be uncomfortable at first, but you’ll get into a habit and it will start to flow…trust us on this.
Our Big Announcement
We will be launching our private, members only program in September!
Not only will there be a ton of behind the scenes stuff and a private Facebook group, you’re going to get monthly ‘Freedom Papers’ shipped to your door!!! Yep, that’s right! Good ol’ fashioned mail! Something you can hold in your hot little hands, make notes on and save for later (to reference… because really, how often do you go back and reference digital stuff? Maybe you’re better at that than we are… but you’re going to love this. We promise).
Stay tune for more news on that mid-September.
There will be special pricing for the launch of this (grandfathered in for life) then in October it will go to the regular monthly rate.
We are SO excited about sharing this with you guys!
Until next week!
